At Stilwell Construction we start with a treated 5x5 or 6x6 post set on 10' or 12' centers and a treated 2x6 bottom plate. The top plate is a double 2x6 (2x8 if the free span exceeds 36'). Pre-engineered factory made trusses are set on 5' or 4' centers. All lumber is southern yellow pine. Our purlins are 2x4 on 24" centers on top and our girts (ribs) are 2x4 or 2x6 for the sides to complete the framing. We use wind braces in every corner throughout the building. Wye-bracing is standard on all sheds and on all buildings 14' or higher. We can provide free span widths from 24' to 60' with outside wall heights up to 16' (laminated poles are used if 16' wall height is exceeded). The lengths of a barn are unlimited. We offer a standard 29 and a heavier 26 gauge metal in an assortment of colors and trim choices. We can build sheds up to 19' deep free-span, running the length of the barn (if shed exceeds 20', a row of poles will be placed down the middle). We offer insulation, windows, skylights, dutch doors, vented closures, cupolas, single or split sliding doors, frame-outs for garage doors and horse stalls with many options. We will customize to your building needs.
